MAC Addresses

Media Access Control (MAC) is a hardware address that identifies every node in a network uniquely. The MAC address tables consist of the dynamic entries, which are derived when the switch examines the source of MAC addresses from the data frames, MAC address table include:

ISDN Configuration

Introduction

The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a set to international standards that define data transmission across digital circuits. The original telephone network followed an analog system that used wires to connect users. This system is prone to breakdown and is not reliable over long distances. ISDN enables you to overcome the drawbacks of the original telephone wires by using digital circuit.

IP Routing

Introduction:

Routing refers to the process of transferring data from the source to the destination. It occurs at the network layer of the OSI model. A router selects the appropriate route for the data packets based on its routing tables. Every router maintains a routing table that stores different routes on the network. IP Routing provides a mechanism for the routers to connect networks and transfer data based on the IP header in the data packet.

Basic IP Traffic Management with Access lists

Introduction :

The Access Control List (ACL) is a set of commands, which are grouped together. These commands enable to filter the traffic that enters or leaves an interface. A wildcard mask enables to match the range of address in the ACL statements. There are two references, which a router makes to ACLs, such as, numbered and named. These reference support two types of ;filtering, such as standard and extended. You need to first configure the ACL statements and then activate them.

IP Address

Introducing IP Addresses

Every device that s connected to the network using the TCP/IP protocol requires an IP address. Every individual in an organization has a unique employee ID by which the rest of the organization identifies him. An IP address is a 32 bit number that is unique for each device. A bit is the smallest unit of information on a computer. The value of a bit is either 0 or 1. All the other devices or computers on the network identify a device using the IP address.

Networking Concept

Introduction:

An internetwork consists of two of more networks connected to each other. These networks are joined using cables and devices. Several factors determine the type of network. In each type of network, the devices are connected in a specific way. For communication between the networks different models, such as OSI, exist defining the manner in which the communication between network occurs.

Router Fundamentals

Router

A Router is a network device that enables you the direct data traffic to an appropriate destination. Routers maintain routing tables that contain IP addresses of computers over the network. A router has different components that enable its proper functioning. The internetwork Operating System (IOS) acts as an operating system for the network de;vices. The IOS has many features that enable the user to interact with the devices.
